founded in 1991, is a Philadelphia based corporation that specializes in the design and
development of Automation and Process Control applications for use in the Power Utility

 History:
Softstuf was started in a small office in Philadelphia with two computers and a small sofa. Within the first two
years Amir and Maria had completed preparing their first product "Wavedos"
which was licensed to Hathaway Systems in Denver for world wide distribution. The product had a
short life as DOS was phased out and the Windows generation took hold but the work was well received
by a number of large utilities including Alabama Power, Consumers Energy and Public Service Electric
and Gas of New Jersey. Wavedos was retired in 1996 when its direct descendant
"Wavewin" was released for the Windows platform.
Owners:
The owners are Amir Makki and Maria Rothweiler Makki. Amir and Maria created the company in 1991
as an "S" corporation based in Pennsylvania with the main objective of developing expert systems
to monitor and analyze power system performance during disturbance and switching operations.
Amir is the chairman and chief engineer. Amir holds BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering
from Tennessee Tech (1981-1986) and was the first and only PhD student of the proposed program
in software engineering at Temple University (1986-1990).
Maria is the president and chief developer. Maria attended Bucks County Community College
(1984-1986) where she prepared for her associate degree in mathematics and holds a BA degree
in computer science from Temple University (1986-1990).
Amir and Maria's professional contributions so far include over 50 publications, copyrights and
trademarks.
